The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) is a federal law which becomes effective January 1, 2020 and will change who can buy Medicare Supplement Plans C, F, and High F (F+).
- Beneficiaries who are newly eligible for Medicare Part A and B effective 1/1/2020 and later will not be allowed to enroll in Plans C, F, and F+.
- Current enrollees in Plans C, F, and F+ will be able to keep their current coverage.
- Those who are eligible for Medicare Part A and B before 1/1/2020 can still enroll in these plans.
We will be adding Plans D and G to our Medicare Supplement portfolio. Plan D offers the same benefits as Plan C, and Plan G offers the same benefits as Plan F. Neither Plan offers coverage for the Part B deductible. An application for approval of these new Plans has been submitted to the NYS Department of Financial Services with a request to begin offering these plans mid-2019. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) is also in the process of creating a new Medicare Supplement plan, High G (G+). More information to come on the addition of these new plans to our portfolio.
If you currently offer Plans C, F, and/or F+ to your retirees through your Group contract, additional information will be sent to you in the coming months.
